The Story of Kite

Kite is a 36-foot Islander sloop sailing vessel built in 1975. We bought her in Mazatlán, Mexico, where she currently resides in the marina. Kite was the second boat we surveyed and we knew right away she was the perfect sailboat for the two of us. We bought her for a modest amount of money in 2020 during the early stages of the Covid pandemic. It was during the lockdown that we decided we weren’t going to wait until we retire to start sailing. The time was NOW, and that’s where our journey began. Kite is named after the first wooden sailboat that Jeremyah built by hand. The majestic Swallow-Tailed Kite was the inspiration for her name.
